Browne Fire Protection is a family run business based in Co. Wexford and servicing the whole of Ireland. Like all family businesses, our story is as much a personal one as a business one.
Larry Browne got it all off the ground 49 years ago with his wife Jenny. He got his start in a national fire protection company where he quickly made his way up the ranks; he moved on from there to set up on his own. He built a great business in those early years and grew it solidly. Aidan, Larry's son, left his successful role in the IT industry in 2002 and joined the family business. Aidan helped double the customer base when he joined. He took the helm then in 2010.
Tragedy struck our family in 2018 when our lovely young Aidan was taken from us in a road accident. On a personal level the loss was incalculable. On a business level Aidan was a marvel - he had modernised the business with self programmed software and of course he was navigating the choppy waters of the recession with aplomb. And you know what? Everyone loved him. It was hard in those days after May 13th 2018 to imagine Browne Fire Protection without him.
But thank God here we are in 2021 continuing his legacy. Aedín Hassett, Aidan's wife and mother of his three children, has become the MD of the company. Hard to pick up the pieces but Aedín did it, and she brought a new perspective to the company that has helped us thrive and grow. Aedín has increased her team, and Brownes so long an owner operator style company, now employs a staff of 5 with multiple vans on the road servicing our customers day in day out.
We can hardly believe after the loss of our lovely dynamic universally loved Aidan, we managed to recover but we know he has had a hand in it one way or another. We continue to expand.
Aidan was a gifted trainer and we have continued his and Larry's tradition in fire training as well as now offering training in general Health and Safety areas including First Aid, Manual Handling etc. Aedín has set up our training school Scoil Safety in recent months in order to meet the growing demand.
