On Site Demonstration

This consists of a session about the colour coding of fire extinguishers and their contents. Explaining what class of fire each extinguisher can be used on. This is followed by a practical demonstration to be held outside in a safe and convenient area of the premises. The extinguishers are then used to extinguish the different classes of fire,

Class A fires of ordinary materials like burning paper, wood, cardboard, plastics etc.

Class B fires involving flammable or combustible liquids such as petrol, kerosene, and common organic solvents used in the laboratory.

Class C fires involve energised electrical equipment, such as appliances, switches, panel boxes, power tools, etc.

All who attend the course will use at least one fire extinguisher on a live fire.

Course Aims

  • Understand the nature of fire.
  • Recognise the potential fire hazards and different classes of fire.
  • Have practice in the use of portable fire extinguishers under controlled conditions.
  • Know the type of fire extinguishers used within the premises.
  • Evacuation Procedures.
